Maple Cinnamon Walnuts (Printable)

Sweet maple glazed walnuts with warm cinnamon, crunchy and irresistible in just 20 minutes.

# What You'll Need:

→ Nuts

01 - 2 cups walnut halves

→ Sweetener & Flavor

02 - 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
03 - 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
04 - 1/4 tsp fine sea salt
05 - 1 tsp vanilla extract

# Directions:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - In a mixing bowl, combine maple syrup, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla extract, stirring until well blended.
03 - Add the walnuts to the bowl and toss until every piece is thoroughly and evenly coated in the maple mixture.
04 - Spread the coated walnuts in a single, even layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not crowded.
05 - Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until the walnuts are glossy and fragrant.
06 - Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet. The maple glaze will harden and set as the walnuts cool.
07 - Transfer to an airtight container and store at room temperature for up to 1 week.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • The maple glaze caramelizes in the oven and creates this shattering crunch that store bought candied nuts never quite achieve.
  • Five minutes of actual hands on work means you can have a batch ready while your coffee is still brewing.
02 -
  • The nuts will feel soft and sticky when they come out of the oven and you will think you ruined them but trust the cooling process because that is when the magic happens.
  • Stirring halfway through baking is non negotiable because the ones on the edges will scorch while the center ones stay wet if you skip this step.
03 -
  • If your walnuts taste slightly bitter straight from the bag, toast them dry for five minutes before glazing and that raw edge disappears completely.
  • A silicone spatula works better than a spoon for coating because it scrapes every bit of syrup off the bowl sides and onto the nuts where it belongs.
